Our purpose

PAEDS aims to actively monitor children hospitalised with severe disease and collect data to inform immunisation policy and improve child health outcomes
Our history

PAEDS was established in 2007 and has expanded to 8 sites across Australia to become Australia’s only active surveillance system for severe childhood disease
Funding and governance

PAEDS is led by NCIRS and funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and state and territory governments.

PAEDS is a collaboration between clinicians and public health researchers in seven Australian tertiary paediatric hospitals; state and territory governments; and the Australian Government Department of Health. Find out more
